I've just joined the Australian Army and will be going off for my initial training at the end of the month!

My position will be a "Rifleman", which I'm told is basically a front-line solder.

My background is in retail (specifically mobile telecommunications) and the circus, but I have switched to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for the long-haul and hope to work my way up to MP (Military Police) in the future...

Not looking forward to the initial training though - three months of "hardcore" physical training, 16 hours a day, seven days a week! LOL

    Nah, should be fun...

I appreciate what you fine men and women do for this country. I have family who have served in Korea , Gulf War and the Iraq war. My sister is also an occupational therapist who works with injured soldiers at Brooks City Base. All of you provide a great service for your country. Thank you!

Quick question....anybody here enlist in the Armed Forces for engineering? I am studying Civil Engineering and I have considered joining the Army ROTC. The benefits seem great and I've always been interested in serving in the armed forces.

    US Navy - Aviation Ordnance (A6 Intuder) - 1991-1995

1991 boot camp in Orlando, FL one of the last classes before all went to the Great Lakes, 1991-1992 Memphis for "A" School, 1992-1995 NAS Norfolk on the US Navy, Dwight D. Eisenhower...good ole CVN-96!

I am hoping that by posting here, I may find some of my old friends. Or, perhaps someone knows someone that was on board during that time. I salute you all. Past, present and future military personnel and thier families!

    GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!
