This four hour outage for all NA BIS / BES subscribers is scheduled for more software upgrades.

Thanks for the linkback. A lot of sites have been taking credit for out alerts as their own work lately and it's really starting to get to me.

What are they doing during outages? Why can't they upgrade BBs to the new OS during that time so we won't have to manually do it?

Why? Because they don't have access to your BB. It'd be like telling Microsoft to upgrade your computer so you don't have to do it manually. OS is installed on your blackberry. They can control/upgrade the services we get, however.

I think what she means is why can't they do the upgrades OTA. I know the SideKick can do OTA upgrades which was cool. It was rumored that OTA upgrades were in the future for the BB. Just don't know when.

every time I have EVER read an update on here about a service outage etc.. it has never affected me. I'm either sleeping or just lucky I guess, because I still get everything. hmmmm

That would be the same for me, I have yet to experience any issue during an scheduled outage, Lucky I guess yet when it happens get ready for the numerous stackers that it does affect. Hayden should post this on the homepage all week long about the upcoming outage on May 3.

Companies try to pick the least active time to take a system down for upgrades. I know I will be sleeping from 2a-6a on a Saturday.

it effects me and my company since all of our international peeps are on our BES in NA. But thanks to dataoutages.com and the emails i get from them I can alert my international peeps in advance.
