    Unable to setup IMAP account

    I'm using unlocked 8100 on Cingular network.

    I'm on the cingular control panel to setup email. Enter the imap server address "imap.xxxxxx.com". When I go under the advanced tab the Server Type show "POP3" and I am unable to change it. Also the Port is set to 995 and I'm unable to change it. Am I doing something wrong?

    No. You're probably not doing anything wrong.

    I have had this happen, where my domain's mail server is BOTH protocols: POP3 and IMAP. BIS seems to automatically set up for POP3 (which is inferior and lame!).

    Here's what to do:

    #1 - delete the account from BIS.

    #2 - once deleted, add the account again, but purposely use the wrong password.

    #3 - BIS will return an error and give you the option to configure the account manually.

    #4 - accept the manual setup, and add the settings for your mail server.

    #5 - enjoy your IMAP email on BIS and BlackBerry!

    PS: don't forget to put in the correct password during step #4.
