    I'm trying to create a new email account with the BB email service but it keeps telling me there is already an account for my PIN. Now, I did just buy the phone from somebody. I'm assuming it is his account they're refering to. Anyone run into this problem? Who do I need to contact to resolve this--the previous owner, Cingular, or BlackBerry?

    i would start with the previous owner...
    the BB support at cingular could release the PIN too...

    Hi well i am affraid to say you must contact the owner of the pin because if the said person does not get that pin released for you it will be very difficult to get a carrier to do so without that persons permission .

    Its actually going to be impossible for you to release a pin without the owner. Either find a way to contact the owner, or get your money back for the phone.

    I just found the same problem. I bought a used 7100i from ebay and I cant' create an account either. Hopefully I can track down the previous owner, if not any other further suggestions.

    I bought my bb used. All I had to do RSA contact bb data support and they help me set up a new email account and erase the old persons pin info. I did this 3 times and never had to contact the previous owner. Contact the bb data group for your carrier. That's all you have to do.

    Generally, they prefer for you to contact the previous owner and have them release the pin. I have seen cases where the carrier will dco it for the new owner of the BB.

    I had the problem with a 8703e model and bb support with carrier service just earse the previous acount. via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    That's what happened with me. They just erased all the previous owners information. It took only a few minutes and they help me with my new email address and password. I did that with bb I'm using right now.

    thanks for the info li2327 but i suppose it depends on the carrier because vodafone wont release anything without the previous owners permission

    Sorry it didn't help. They did it for me with Nextel and Verizon.

    I've known Cingular and T-Mobile to do it as well. Maybe if you call back and get a different rep then that person may do it for you. That's also snipthee alternative as well.

    If you have to get the previous owner to release the pin, how do they do it? Do they have to delete their information or do they have to call BB support themselves?
