Leave messages on the server after pushing email to device

    Hi,

I have a new Blackberry Curve 8310, and I have set up my personal email succesfully on it, so that it pushes my emails to my Blackberry, as I want it to do. Great! However, I want to leave a copy of the message on the server (in this case, it is through Clearmymail.com, as I use that as an anti-spam tool before it pushes my email out). However, I can't find any way of getting it to leave a copy of the message on the server. I want to be able to pick the same emails up on my Outlook client on my PC as well, usually later in the day. Does that make sense? I hope you can help.

I'm guessing I'm missing something really obvious here!

    Best regards,
    Simon Brewer

How are you pushing your email to your device? Are you forwarding it to it or are you using the BIS and setting up your account on your BB device?

    Hi,

I've done it using the BIS, I believe. Set it up on the Blackberry website.

If you set it up on the bis then you need to check your settings on your mail server and tell it to leave the message on the server after delivery. You will need to log into the server every once in a while to clean it out after you have downloaded the messages to your outlook inbox unless there is a setting in outlook (I don't use it personally so not sure) that will delete the message from the server after downloading.

Thanks Amigotek , for your reply. Also Eddieguage.

Eddiegauge, just so I can be sure I have the logic right on this. The list of Email client settings you have given me would work for me, if I was downloading to my email client (in my case Outlook 2003) FIRST?? My problem is that the emails arive on my Blackberry BEFORE I have a chance to get them into Outlook. That's actually what I want to do - get them into Outlook AFTER they have arrived on my Blackberry. But thanks for offering the help.

Also, just so you don't think I'm lazy, I did read these instructions on the sticky first, before posting! ;-)

I'll contact the clearmymail team to find out if there is a way of keeping the emails on their servers after they are sent to the Blackberry.

    Thanks again for your help.

Outlook is just a receptacle just like the BB. The diff on outlook is you can also effect the mailbox that it pulls from. To be on the safe side if you are haveing email go to outlook and your berry, go into outlook and set it to leave a message on the server, then also set it up in clearmymail.

    Thanks again EddieGauge.

I think therein lies my problem, which I probably won't be able to get around.
Neither the Blackberry, NOR ClearMyMail give me the option to leave a copy on the server. I've just dropped an email to ClearMyMail to double-check, but I'm sure I would have found that option if it was available. But this has helped me clarify the logic, so thanks!

I think my only option will be to auto-forward the emails from ClearMyMail to a different email account, where it DOES give me the option to leave the mails on the server. However, I can't see that as an option in ClearMyMail either yet!!! As I am only on a trial at the moment with ClearMyMail, unless they give me some other options, I may not go forward with their anti-spam solution.

    Cheers for now,

    Sibrewer

The blackberry doesn't give you the option because the BlackBerry internet service will never remove a copy of the message from your server. It simply pushes a copy to your device but does not modify the mail on the server at all.
