How to prevent Duplicate messages from your Gmail Account

Here is the solution for this common issue. (this information is from the Research In Motion Blackberry Technical Solution Center). My apologies if this is already posted (however I wanted to link to and could not find a detailed How To on this).

To prevent sent messages from returning to the BlackBerry smartphone each time, create a filter in the BlackBerry Internet Service account to block the sending of those messages to the BlackBerry smartphone.
To create a filter, perform the following:
    1. Log in to the BlackBerry Internet Service account. For instructions on how to log in to the BlackBerry Internet Service account, as well as links to providers BIS Web Sites, see KB03781.
    2. Click the Filters icon next to the integrated Gmail account.
    3. Click Add a Filter to create a new filter.
    4. Configure the filter so that email messages are not sent to the BlackBerry smartphone if the email message originates from the Gmail webmail account integration:
      1. Type a name for the filter into the Filter Name field. For example, My sent Gmail email messages.
      2. Set the Apply filter when field to "FROM" field.
      3. Type the Gmail webmail address into the Contains field. For example, <user name>@gmail.com>.
      4. Select the radio button beside Do not forward messages to device.
      5. Click Add Filter.
Note: After creating this filter, email messages will not be received on the BlackBerry smartphone if sent from the Gmail webmail account.

I asked about this same thing awhile ago cuz I was tired of getting double messeges. If anyone thinks this sounds complicated, it's not. If I can figure it out then anyone can

I Cannot log into the BIS... it always gives me some crackpot error message. If I try to setup a new account it says "You cannot access this via HTML. Set this up from your phone" then when I set it up on my phone and then try to login, it will not accept the login.... gah I usually dont have this much trouble with anything technology related...

    timkd,

Who is your carrier? I assume you have a data plan and active, working emails on your BB now?

    Tim,
When you try to connect to BIS through your device, using the Personal Email Setup utility, just click the "New Account" link at the top of the page. (sometimes it scrolls down quickly to the login fields.) It should take you straight in at that point while on the device.

if you want to be able to login from a normal web browser, and you set up login credentials, I believe you HAVE to use the "login" method from that point on- even from the device. (At least that's what happened to me which is fine becasue I was unable to edit my auto signature for my BIS acocunts from the device.)

    GaryF,
Thanks for the info. This has been bothering me since I started using Gmail on my BB!
    Super easy fix!

    .....I love pin stacks!
...without pin stacks, a BB is just a phone.......
