    e-mail question

    Hi,
Since I am new to BB and the "push" e-mail thing I have a few questions:

    1. Is it normal to be some sort of lag from when I receive the e-mails on my phone and when I originally get them? My signal is usually always under -100db.
1a. Do SMS messages get sent alot faster? I have a mail account that I have forwarded to my phone as a text message. I notice that comes into the phone signifigantly faster then the e-mail does?

    2. Is there a way to set it to "check" the e-mail accounts, or does it just do this automatically? I guess I am a bit confused as to the whole "push" e-mail thing. As with my old phone unless I was getting text messages, I would have to set it to check ever x minutes.

    Thanks.

    Re: e-mail question

With push email that you have set up on BIS, you can see up to a 20 minute delay, although typically it is not that long.

SMS comes from the carrier over the voice channels and is completely different than email. You can't set the email accounts to check every "x" minutes, you will receive them once the server polls.

    Hope that helps a little.

Mine's usually only delayed by a couple of minutes... but yes, it does delay a bit.

Same here, I usually only see a couple minute delay, but I have seen it take up to 20. Very rare though.

    Re: e-mail question

It also depends on the type of account you are using for your email. Generally (but not always) Yahoo and GMail are the fastest to get to a BB device.

    Re: e-mail question

no way to set the device to "check". Some email accounts might be a hair slower than others, such as Gmail and Yahoo are virtually instant, while AIM, and my inbox.com are delayed by a short time (usually under 5min).

As for SMS, those are done by the wireless carrier not through bis.

edit: oh wow, I hit send and you guys (and gal) already got posts up there lol

how do you remove napster? if you go to Options \ Advanced Options \ Applications - you should be able to see something in there for it. Highlight it, hit the menu button and uninstall.
