Own domain - using yahoo/gmail to speed up & get two-way sync?

Hi - new user here. Heavily addicted. Using Curve on O2

I run my own mail server and have web access and IMAP to my desktop machine (where old messages are later archived).

I can get the BB to check in, but there are two issues:-
    - it's slow (only polls for new messages every 15 mins)
    - it doesn't fully sync message status (read / unread) between BB and server - BB can force the status eventually, but not the other way round.

Seems that BIS favours google and yahoo in polling speed, and yahoo will do two-way status updates. So I'm trying to use google or yahoo as an intermediate email account that IMAPs off my server and then has a BB link.

Proving to be tricky - has anyone managed this?

    Thanks

    db

Have you tried using Google Apps for your Domain? http://www.google.com/a

It's free email hosting and it works great. I use it for my own domain as I got tired of screwing around with the IMAP and POP3 server settings. I have been using since they first started the beta. It's great and I've never had any downtime.

I don't think that's going to fly as I need to manage other users account locally on my server, so I can't just hand over the domain to Google to manage...

Any way of using Y or G as middle-mail?
