    BlackBerry Internet Service Inbox

One main difference between BlackBerry Internet Service 1.8 and 2.0 is the Inbox feature. BlackBerry Internet Service 1.8 includes an inbox for managing messages, whereas BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 does not. The primary function of BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 is managing integrated email accounts.

Re: Differences of BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) 1.8 & 2.0

    Could I, for example,

    1. Set up two yahoo accounts (which seem do push to the BB, due to the RIM/Yahoo agreement)
    2. Set different "From" addresses on the BB for each account, which are NOT yahoo addresses, but from my own domains
    3. Forward mail from my own domains to these yahoo accounts

    ... so I get

    a. an end to end push solution
    b. for multiple email addresses
    c. and the rest of the world only ever sees my own domain names

    ?

If all that works, and I send a mail from my BB with the From address of one of my own domains, does this work "properly", or will recipents on Outlook, for example, see the mail as from

My Name <myaccount@yahoo.com> on behalf of <me@mydomainname.com>

This is what happens if you set a new "from" address using Google mail - and it's horrible.

On BIS 1.8, the 'From' address is altered properly, and I nonetheless don't hear of mails I send being trapped as spam or bounced, despite the "from" address not matching the (RIM) server the mail comes from.

Anyone know how BIS 2.0 works in this respect?

Re: Differences of BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) 1.8 & 2.0

    1. I've read that each email account set up on BIS 2.0 leads to a new desktop icon on your BB. Is all the incoming mail from all the accounts also consolidated in the old BB inbox, so I can use this instead of multiple "shortcuts" on my BB destop?

    2. When I want to compose a mail from my inbox, do I get to select the account from which to send it from a menu like when currently selecting between the BIS or BES service when I have both set up on a device?

I don't have an option to migrate to BIS 2 yet, but soon, so I want to understand how it will affect me... :-|

Each mailbox has its own icon, but you can hide them and all the emails go into the messages folder.
You can select the from address on the 8700. Dunno about any others.

    hi there,

yes you can hide them just like any other icons on my BB telus 7250.

telus has upgraded to the 2.0 server and i hate it. i have my e-maisl being forwarded from Active Directory from work with it comes to my blackberry in no time at all. it comes to the blackberry before my inbox.

when the account i have on my BIS takes about 10 mins or so. but problem is that they took the option out about "send as" email and becuase of that... i sent mine to my current clients becuase that is the only client i work at so far.. but soon i will be going around and i have to use my general account and i can no longer change that send as e-mail on my own.. and its a big pain in the butt!!

i think they should create a new revision and allow you to have those options again you know..

    any one agree?

On your BlackBerry, go to Messages> Compose Email.
It will say "Send Using: [Default]."
Highlihgt "[Default]", click on that and choose "Change Option."
Scroll through your addresses set up with BIS/BES to find the one you want to use.
    Address, compose e-mail and Send.

Are there still people still running 1.8? If so how can I go back to 1.8 from 2.0?

Besides that with 2.0 upgrade you keep your name@nextel.blackberry.net account which I'd rather have. But since I deleted my old account I had to open a new one and now I'm stuck with a name@sprint.blackberry.net account.

the best new feature of 2.0 is the ingenious 20-90min delay sending and/or receiving mail between 10am-9pm EDT. brilliant. 4 weeks of this crap, 4 tickets opened with RIM and still can't rely on my blackberry like i used to be able to with 1.8.

like kurrupt, i would be interested to know if i can be switched back to 1.8.

    collapse, Welcome to PinStack.

I agree, I'm still on BIS 1.8, and will be as long as there is no capability to manage my email using a later version.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help with your BB.

What's the web address to access my Verizon BIS account from my computer? I can see it on my BB, but I don't recall how to get to it otherwise.
