    Hi, can anyone help me.

    I have just upgraded from BIS to BES but still want to use BIS for personal emails which I don't want clogging up my MSX box. I have downloaded the service pack (I think!) and can send emails from my BIS account using my BlackBerry (8700) no problem. But I can't receive any messages to my BIS account on my Blackberry, although they appear on the web based in-box. It's as though I have filters on, but I don't.

    Please help me!

    I don't think there is a way to do both, I think it's one or the other. I'll let someone else decide though...

    it does work, I have both bis and bes on mine... i didnt have any issues setting it up, i just needed to get my provider to enable bis on my company bb. didnt even need to invlove IT from work....

    sorry I cant help, the only thing you could try (that springs to mind at least) is resending the bis service books

    Obviously if you have a BIS "inbox", you also have the slightly inferior BIS 1.8.

    The settings are a bit cumbersome, but you need to ensure that your email accounts on the BIS are set to "deliver messages to handheld" as the default. I suspect that currently you have it set to NOT deliver messages.

    I would highly recommend upgrading to BIS 2.1.

    I agree with Lewis on the possible cause for this problem. Check in the Options to make sure that the default is set to "Forward to HandHeld. As to BIS 1.8 or 2.1, I disagree totally, BIS 2.x crippled any ability to manage email on your BB. The loss of folders turns the BB from a useful email management tool into a send/receive email device. As even RIM admits it went from managing email to managing email accounts.

    Hi ashley, welcome to pinstack. Have you tried to send the service books to your BB? Go into your BIS account and choose service books, and send service books. It may help, good luck. Let us know.

    Hi guys/gals, I'm confused. If having a dual "personality" i.e. BES and BIS was possible, what about all the folks on BES who are stuck with their IT dept regime and can't get individual apps etc.?

    the IT policy set by the compnay could disable app install

    but this shouldn't affect the BIS settings

    An IT Policy could disable using BIS on the Device, but it should cause the problem described by the OP.

    I need help! I believe my companies IT department as disabled PINing from my BB 8700. Any way around this. is there anything I can do on the devise itself to get back PIN messaging?
