BIS usual problems (PIN) - BB 8100

    Hi,
So I'm another one, who bought his 8100 off Ebay.
I was using 8700g and when tried to change my device on website I got back withinfo that it's registered elsewhere.
My problem is, that this Pearl is simlock free and no logo/brand on it, so I can't even tell which network originated it, hence, I can't call anyone to ask for release my PIN.
I've read thru lots and lots of this forum pages, but still don't know what to do.
Is my 8100 wasted and not usable with BIS?
Or can I call RIM somewhere (I'm in EU) and ask for my Pearl status?

Would be very grateful for any help...

    N.B. I'm on T-Mobile Poland (ERA)

You probably have to call T-mobile first, and let them connect you to RIM, since they won't talk to customers directly unless they've spoken to you before or you have a case number.

You can Call your Carrier, but most likely it will be a wasted call. If it was in thier system it would have changed over with out a problem, you need to contact the Seller and find out what NW it was registered to before, and if they had it registered ask them to call the carrier and have it released.

I've found (via JL commander) that it's originated by BT (UK carrier). Does that help at all?

Contact the ebay seller and ask them to have the pin released from thier BIS account.

Tried that, but got no reply for 3 days. He's selling lots of it (probably refurbished) so not sure if he'll help me.

If I call BT myself, could they release my PIN?
I'm sorry for being such a lame, but I never expected nor experienced something like this...

No problem. You are not alone.

The problem may be that BT may only accept a request to release the PIN from the previous owner but it is worth phoning them yourself to see if they can do anything.

    Hopefully they can.

BT is a big company in the UK & they sell blackberries so to find a number Google BT + UK & see if you can find their business shop telephone number or technical services dept.

    Good luck.

Your not being Lame, we all had to learn how this stuff worked at some point, You can call the Company, with the PIN number, and see if they will release it. I hope they do, not sure how they will handle it, it is ussaly better to have the person the registered it in the first place call.

If you are unable to get the PIN released demand a refund from the seller & file a dispute with ebay if you run into any problems.

Thx Bluebell_Wood, already found it. Let's see how it develops tomorrow.
Scared that I won't get through, though. Does it mean I can throw my Pearl away?

btw. how soon after deleting the PIN by one carrier, can I use it with another?

It goes through pretty quick, and NO don't throw it way, always good for spare parts!

Don't throw it away if the PIN cannot be released. Demand a refund from the ebay seller. It would still work as a basic phone though.

Once you have confirmation that the PIN has been released you can set up almost immediatley.
