| BIS 2.1 - access .doc,.pdf, .xsl, and .mp3 in Browser
Even though I've had push gmail for a few weeks, it appears as if all of the features of the new BIS finally have been rolled out. I can now open and view .doc,.pdf, .xsl, and .ppt docs AND listen to .mp3s through the Internet Browser. All such files can be saved to the messages folder by selecting "save page" from the browser menu, and can then be accessed without downloading again. On Cingular, OS 4.1.0.327, 7130c. |

I don't know if Cingular has upgraded to 2.1, but the Browser capability has been upgraded for several weeks now. And it even works for those that haven't transitioned from BIS 1.8. About a week after the announcement I did a test and managed to open several PDF and DOC files from my Browser. It wasn't 100%, but it did work. Rcbjr |

ripvtech, I'm pretty certain that on TMO, you're either BIS 2.0 or 2.1. I think that there are a lot of of feature differences in the 2.0 => 2.1 transition that the carrier can activate or not. I don't know how to tell the difference between 2.0 and 2.1 except that if gmail integration works instantly all the time you're on 2.1, and if it still has the 15 min polling delay you're still on 2.0. Hope this helps Rcbjr. |

I can always access all kind of files when they come as an attachment. But no if I get them through Efile. Why is that? Shouldnt it be the same?

jferreo, I think to open them You need the full eOffice or eWord/eExcel to open them, not just eFile. But those apps allow you to edit them also. Hope this helps Rcbjr. |
