When using the GPS does the car appear like a triangle like on most GPS units? What car cradle are you using for the Pearl and GPS Receiver? Thanks!

Re: Using Pearl with Blackberry Maps and GPS

I was hoping someone might be able to solve my problem. I'm running v.4.2.0.51 and I can not get my Holux 240 to work with my Pearl. I can open up BBmaps, but when I click "Start GPS" the entire program closes after a few seconds and I get this error:

    Uncaught exception: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException

Has anyone encountered this problem? I have GPS enabled and I've played with all of the device properties. I've even selected the Holux 240 as my default device in Location Based Services. This is very frustrating as this is one of the highlight features of the Pearl. Please help!!!

Re: Using Pearl with Blackberry Maps and GPS

Hi, just got me a pearl recently, on Vodafone (UK).
I can;t see BB Maps on my device, where might i find it?
Alternatively if Vodafone have yet again nerfed part of my phone (no default browser), any ideas on where i can pick up that piece of software?

    thanks

iGuidance for WM is fantastic, it blows telnav and tom tom out of the water. Its a shame it can't be used on BB. Does anyone know of a small USB GPS receiver that can plug into the Pearl much like a flash drive would. I'd like to take my BB on the golf course and use another program that will give me distances to the front and back of the putting greens.

    MrGolf, Welcome to PinStack.

Don't believe that you can use the Pearl will act as a USB host. It will allow the use of a Bluetooth GPS Puck though. Do you have the App for the Blackberry that will give the distance to the greens already?

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with your BB.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having this same problem, just updated my BB to 4.2.0.64 to see if it would help but still no joy. Anyone have any suggestions?

I highly recommend the HOLUX 240. Very small and works great inside building for GPS.

I need help in finding a utility that will simply display the latitude and longitude . I need this functionality when geocaching. In my old 7100i, I would simply go the "location based service" under "options" and I would see the latitude and longitude, but I don't think that is possible when using the pair GPS via bluetooth.

Keep in mind that when geocaching, I am often times out of my carrier's range, but I STILL WANT to know the latitude and longitutde via the BT GPS. Please send me a link if you know where I can find such a simple utility that will just tell me the basics such as latitude, longitude and perhaps number of satellites.

    Thanks!

You can download and install the OS onto your computer probably from your carriers website, after it is installed connect your BB to the PC and start Desktop manager.

Then start application loader and make sure Blackberry maps is checked and go through to the finish and it should install the maps.
