I use both BBMaps and Google Maps. Neither will give voice directions or auto reroute however. If you need/want that, you need to use telenav and pay an extra $10 a month.

Try Yahoo! Go. It's a really good little app with gps support. The maps load faster than Google Maps. You won't be disappointed.

Depends on your priorities. I prefer Telenav but it is $10/month for unlimited routes. If you don't need its features there are free options. There's a ton of data on a lot of the GPS apps if you look based on their names.

    Hi Guys
I am in London UK. Am I right in thinking that Telenav is for USA or do they have UK based Nav as well.
Sofar I have relied on BB's maps but it is not something to write home about. Any advice for UK customes.

    Re: first time gps user

    Hi all,
I've only just got my 8800 but I was having a play with BB Maps and downloaded Google maps over the weekend and was thinking that I'd use it for GPS when I'm on the motorbike... only problem is, if the screen blanks out every minute this is going to become a real ball-ache.

Does anybody know how to set the BB up so that the screen is always on?

In BB Maps, go under Options and change the "Disbale Backlight Timeout when battery power above"... I have mine set at 50%, which means as long as I have 1/2 battery left, BB maps will stay on screen.

I was unable to find that option on GoogleMaps.

Yup -- you adjust the backlight in each app -- assuming that the app has the option.
