How do you mean "hacked through gps"? The Blackberry is a very secure device, if not the most secure. If it's good enough for governments...

    No.

GPS satellites are essentially orbiting clocks that continually transmit the time, and whose coordinates are known.

A GPS receiver uses an internal clock, and the satellite's message travel time to determine distance from the satellite. With a few satellites the GPS receiver performs trilateralization from those distances and locations to find its own location.

The only thing those satellites send to a GPS receiver is a time and space coordinate. The GPS receiver doesn't/can't send anything to the satellites.

According to my father in law, someone can access any gps device you have and somehow track who you are and where you are going....

HOWEVER he also thinks comcast has a video recognition device, that knows who is sitting in front of the TV and targets the person with specific programs and advertisments........ HAHA

Now that may be plausible but in true theory, I was talking to a 90 year old lady the other day and she was watching the same channel on the same system as I was and we both were getting advertisements for the ummm penil enhancement pills, and shes widowed, So I am really thinking NOT.... But then if I am watching a cartoon with my kid, and they have an add for a toy then an add for a singles dating service, then they really need to think this over.

Over think much to much do we?
It takes many professionals versed in many different area's to help the masses, I am just a single drop in that pool.

I find this really hard to believe. Unless you can give me some sources, this is a tough sell.

Yeah, while theoretically possible, not plausible at all.
If someone is that paranoid about things, they probably don't get any EDGE coverage at their cabin in Montana anyway.

nothing is secure, if you want secure.. don't buy blackberry =)
well not just blackberry, all phone actually.
then you don't have to worry about being hacked. (if that paranoid)

    but on my opinion,
government with telco still can hack our phone if they want to.
but for someone else hmmmmmm.... don't know =)
just make sure that enable blackberry/wireless/gps only if u need it.,
