Members, I am stuck. I have no idea what is the function of the MAP thing that comes with my Pearl does. I need to have a map on this since I travel almost too much. I am ready to download Google Maps but would really like to learn more about this map thing.

    Thanks a million.

The BB Map works well with a bluetooth GPS reciever. Without one, I'd say you're better off using Google Maps.

Well, in that case, there really isn't a point to BB Maps when Google is a better alternaive! (I just feel the Google interface is better, and makes a much better use of screen real estate)

I tried Google Map with my Pearl too, and compared it with the BB Map.
I elected to stay with the BB Map just because I suspected that the interface would use more data and I am not on an unlimited data plan and, as far as I know, can't get it on Rogers. I said "suspected" because the only way to really know is to try both and compare them. In other words, I was so impressed with the Google qualily that it scared me off because of probable continuing data charges. Can anyone shed more light on this?

I agree the Google map is superior. However, I can invoke the BlackBerry map from my Address Book to quickly see the map of an address. I don't know any way to do that with Google maps.

I prefer the blackberry map because it is more up to date with new construction. At least in my location it is.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~barry, obviously my statements depend on how much you use google maps, but the $65 50MB data plan should cover your useage. I haven't seen anyone go over 50MB with regular useage. If it isn't enough, the $100 200MB plan will be enough for you. Judging by the speed of each program, I'd say they're using about the same data. Google is very efficent with their data useage with their desktop, web based and mobile software.

I thought I saw somewhere that Rogers just started offering an unlimited data plan. You may want to check it out.

It doesn't sound like you have a data plan. Did you download google maps OTA?

The way you said it in your last post made it seem like you didn't. OTA = over the air which means did you download it directly to your phone or did you go through your computer to download it.
