    No WIFI FOR TMO??

nnounced today, Starbucks is gearing up to transition its WiFi relationship from T-Mobile to AT&T in over 7,000 of its locations in the US. For T-Mobile HotSpot customers feelin' a bit like day old espresso right about now, fret not, as the coffee giant has assured us all that you folks "will be able to continue to access WiFi services at no additional cost through an agreement between AT&T and T-Mobile." Starting "sometime this Spring," Starbucks card holders will be treated to two hours of free WiFi access per day, while more than 12 million "qualifying AT&T broadband and U-verse internet customers will have unlimited free access." For whatever it's worth, the press release also notes that the carrier will "soon extend the benefits of WiFi at Starbucks to its wireless customers," but it (sadly) fails to elaborate. For those of you out there without any ties to AT&T, expect to pony up $3.99 for a two hour session or $19.99 for monthly access

Re: offical news on Starbucks/wifi change

The following info was released from T-Mobile yesterday. Looks like good news for both ATT AND T-Mobile customers actually. Hope this helps clear a few things up..

Starbucks will announce a new communications agreement with AT&T on
February 11. The agreement will streamline all of their communications
services under one single provider. This includes all in store operating
systems, as well as their Wi-Fi services. There will be no immediate
impact to T-Mobile HotSpot customers as they will continue to have access
    to Wi-Fi services at Starbucks.
DetailsIn 2008, AT&T broadband customers will largely roam on
T-Mobile's HotSpot network. Then, as Starbucks transitions to AT&T, T-Mobile
HotSpot Customers will be able to roam on the Starbucks Wi-Fi network
provided by AT&T. There will be no additional cost for T-Mobile HotSpot
customers to access Wi-Fi services at Starbucks; they will have the same
great roaming experience they have with our other roaming partners. As
for us,(T-Mobile), we will continue moving our consumer Wi-Fi experience on to the
next logical place, and this is "every home in America." We are driving
HotSpot as an experience, rather than a destination, and the debut of
HotSpot @Home in 2007 was a major step in this direction. T-Mobile will
be releasing the following statement: "T-Mobile HotSpot customers can
continue to access Wi-Fi services at Starbucks now and for years to
come. T-Mobile HotSpot customers also will continue to benefit from our
commitment to be the innovation leader for consumer Wi-Fi. We are still
the only national wireless carrier that is actively expanding the use of
Wi-Fi in homes through our innovative T-Mobile HotSpot @Home
    services
," said Joe Sims, vice president and general manager, Broadband Products
    and Services, T-Mobile USA.

If customers inquire about these changes, advise them of the
following:"There is no immediate impact to HotSpot service at Starbucks; our
Customers will be able to access HotSpot at Starbucks for many years to
come." Review the following FAQs listed below.
