| Unlocking themes on Curve?
I just picked up the Curve yesterday from AT&T, but I have a question: how do you unlock the themes on it? I know you can replace the blackberry.alx in the software version folder, but since I just got the phone there is no newer software, and so there is noplace on my PC to replace blackberry.alx, and RIM's site doesn't have the AT&T software version. Seems like the only way to do this would be to downgrade my software to an older one just to be able to replace the blackberry.alx? |

Well put, you have a handle on the situation. And given the problem with the AT&T OS, I'm not sure downgrading is not such a bad idea. I'm not recommending it as it is remotely possible that you may have problems with CS and warrantee support if you have a problem with the Curve. Rcbjr. |

Would it be worth moving to the O2 OS? And would I lose the AT&T applications like the MusicID and XM radio?

I don't know about losing the AT&T Items, but I think those are provided by service books. Can't tell because I deleted about 12 service books for the Media Mall stuff immediatley as I don't want extra charge icons on my blackberry. As to the O2 OS, again, I make no recommendations. It's your choice. Richard. |

So, is the consensus here then, that we can't unlock vendor themes on the Curve right now?

If you download the 8800 Software up date and go to the area where you chagne the vendor themes you will see in () (8300-8800) so you can do it for both phones

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ The only way would be to download the o2 operating system, as stated above, and edit the alx file and load onto your device. I'm guessing it will be a couple of weeks before we get an os release. I would NOT recommend putting an 8800 os on your curve. |

| Re: Unlocking themes on Curve?
It could be it isn't showing up because it isn't compatible for your Curve as it's an 8800 theme. Try a theme from our 8300 themes forum, those will work for your Curve. ~via Lava's C2 (wap.pinstack.com)~ |
