Hasn't happened yet and I doubt if it ever will. I can't see microsoft expending the effort to understand the device hardware without support from RIM and don't see RIM waisting the effort to put a competitors OS on their hardware. It just wouldn't make sense.

If it does happen I doubt that it would be RIM, Microsoft, or any big company doing it. There just wouldn't be a profitable reason for it. Now a hacker that did it because he was bored or was told that it couldn't be done (like they did on the xbox) is possible. Just the big question on the full schematics of the main board and logic circuit to allow the OS to be used on RIM's processor.

    Hey!

Let's make it better for everyone. Send these guys a note.

FWIW, Microsoft has been tackling the problem from the other end, trying furiously to adapt push to WM 5.0 devices and MS Exchange Server 2003 SP2. Results have been mixed, though...

There are those rumors of getting full Blackberry software and applications to emulate on a WM smartphone. That would be so cool. Blackberrys are so great, everyone wants to be like us.

NEVER HAPPEN....Microsoft and RIM have about as much love for each other as the Sunis and the Shiites. Microsoft takes every opportunity it can to bash RIM OPENLY....RIM isn't as outward in its dislke for Microsoft, but believe me there is no love lost.

If the BB became Windows Mobile, then I would go to something else. - Symbian or perhaps an iPhone.

To the original poster, NO, the proposed solution to support MS or Linux to RIM hardware (like what Palm has done with the Treo) is not a good solution for your limitations. The "cure" would be worse than the "disease!"

What limitations are bothering you (hint, go ahead and start another thread to discuss if you would like).

They are working on some projects together, including running the BB OS on WinMo. And what do you call BB Connect?

All BB Connect does is sync your non-bb device email to a BES server. It doesn't emulate any other part of the BB.
