Ok.. I have the blackberry 8700g and I am so frustrated.

I have Windows Vista. I want to sync with a program for calendars, contacts , tasks etc. I dont know which one. I downloaded the Desktop 4.2.pack 1 and all though it works I cant seem to sync it with any program on my computer (I do not have outlook etc. I have a brand new laptop).

It works with the 4.2.sp.1 but does nothing more than that. I uninstalled that and tried to download 4.2 but when I try to install it says that I "failed to install ISKernel files and to make sure I have appropriate privileges.. ".. PLEASE HELP

First off, you must use Desktop Manager 4.2sp1 if you have Vista, its the only one compatible with that OS.

Secondly, what programs are you trying to sync with your BlackBerry, they have to be compatible with the Desktop Manager or they won't work.

thank you for response!! Yes I realized I have to use 4.2.1!!

The only program I have on my laptop is the Windows Calendar and Mail (the programs that come with Vista). Do I have to purchase outlook 2007? What programs are compatibile with the desktop manager I have installed?

    thanks so much1

When you open desktop manager and choose intellisync, configure pim, and choose what to syncronize, you will see many options for what is compatible.

I think he may mean the integrated calendar/contact function included in Vista. I have Office 2007, so I use Office, but for those who don't, it would be nice if RIM's desktop software allowed syncing to the integrated windows Calendar. It looks identical to Outlook.

Office 2007 is so nice, I think that you may want to use that if your going to round out all of your device data with your PC.(IMHO)
