Can you give a little more detail about what your asking? I've never heard of slaving a desktop drive to a laptop. Unless your refering to slave as in an IDE bus then you can't do that since. Laptops (most any way) only have a single IDE interface for hard drives. Let us know if I'm even close to what your really asking. :-)

Hit the nail on the head. I have an older desktop drive that has XP on it. I have some music and pics on there that I would like to move to my laptop, but the OS won't boot, keeps telling me to uninstall whatever I just installed, I haven't installed anything, so- brings us to the question above. Thanks for your help.
