I didn't know windows had a built in contact list and calendar. Are you speaking about Outlook Express? Or does Vista give you that capability? Not a Vista expert.

It is all revamped it has pretty much a built in outlook. They are seperate programs but they are real functional. and best of all i think they are tied into the operating system so you don't have to have outlook running in the background

I downloaded desktop manager ver.4.2 SP1 from RIM and when I tried to run the software (as administrator), it says that this program is not "a valid Win32 application". How do you get around this?

Not sure tradervic, I installed my version without any trouble. Try again and see what happens. Are you right clicking the icon and choosing run as administrator, or just double clicking the icon?

This was helpful to me as well. My Gateway (Vista) wouldn't read the USB ports. Now I'm golden. If I could just get it to sync with Windows Mail (I don't have Outlook on this thing)... Thanks. |

I expect this will be addressed by 4.2 SP2

I installed DM 4.2 SP1 and it messed my contacts up. When I tried to email I could not bring them up from with in the email. I had to go on the contact and then click email. I ended up having to uninstall 4.2 and then reinstalling 4.1 to get it back and running right. I guess that I need 4.2 OS for the 4.2 DM to work correctly.

Hello. I am new here. I have researched all day. Any help is appreciated... I just got a new computer with Vista pre-loaded. Not sure how I feel about this OS thus far. Downloaded DM latest version 4.2 SP2. When I try to synchronize, I am prompted to configure an application to read my contacts, calendar, etc. Windows Mail is not listed as an option. What am I missing?

I'm not sure, but I'm going to see if I can mimic that situation.
