    Hi!
    I'm Heather. I just bought a Blackberry Pearl 8100 (from Cingular) two days ago. Unfortunately, I am already having problems with it. Specifically, the volume never seems to do what I want it to (It'll still vibrate, and only vibrate, after I change it to 'loud', or will still ring when I've turned it on vibrate..ect). And then sometimes it will vibrate for three or four more times after I've turned it onto 'loud' or 'normal', and then switch to ringing or vice versa! Also, the bigger problem is when I try to view my pictures, music, or ringtones in Device Memory. I can see the picture thumbnails and still e-mail them and everything, but I get this error message when I try to see the full size image or open any file- "unable to display file/device memory/home/user/pictures. I think it is pretty safe to say it is happening to all of my files. I have looked alll over blackberry.com and through my instruction manual, and I can not find anything that remotely helps me. This thread is a last resort before I take the phone back and cancel my cell phone plan (They give me only 30 days to do this in, and it is day two.) Can anyone help?

    **Update
    So someone mentioned that I might try taking the battery out and putting it back in. So I did.. and now my internet brower and MEdia net have vanished. I also keep getting the message "Uncaught exception:applicationregistry.waitFor(0xac3ae76427 d17f19) timeout.
    Anyone know what this means?

    Since it's a brand new BB i would sugger bringing it back to your local store and ask for a replacement. If you can't have you installed something before it happened?

    Thanks! I'm happy to be here. I hope I just got a defective one, and its not the phone thats bad.
    I'm assuming most people love their blackberry?
    No, I haven't installed anything on it. I didn't do anything but remove the battery and put it back in.
    I just noticed too that the 'Help' file on the phone won't work either.

    Surely a defective unit... just ask them to be replaced

    Welcome to the Stacks Beag. If it's new, I would bring it back. Most people absolutely love their Blackberrys. I'm sure you will too once you get a working one.

    Aww, thanks. You guys are are great already! I'm glad I came. I think I'm already addicted to it, and that's why I'm so upset about it not working! I only got one day of internet and picture privledges and it wasn't enough!
    I'll take it back Monday and try to get another.

    wow that sucks to get a defective first blackberry, but you will be very pleased with the replace (I hope). And welcome to the site

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Welcome from another Houston Pearl user. That is a defective unit. Don't let it spoil your experience. My first Pearl also had to be returned 2 1/2 months after I got it.

    Hey,
    I just wanted to update everyone and let them know I got a new BB today. Although, I am a bit disheartened still. Even after she gave me the new phone she couldn't get it to work, and I ended up spending an hour and a half there while the lady was on the phone with technical support. But it eventually began working..so I'll see how it goes from here. Thanks for all your help!
