    Hello from CT!

Hi everyone! I'm a new Verizon/8830 user. I just got it about a month ago and am still getting used to it. I love it so far even though I do have a few complaints about it.

    1) Web browsing has a few issues.
    2) I'm pulling the battery way too often for several different reasons. (it's a pain with an Otter box on it)
    3) Can't view streaming video from just any sight without additional software.
    4) Can't listen to streaming audio either.
    5) Only plays .mp4 format video.
    6) Ringer isn't loud enough.
    7) GPS on a Verizon phone only works for $9.99 per month with only their software.
    8) Stock market and stock quoting/graphing software is just pure garbage for the Blackberry.

But that is why I'm here. I still love it and am always in search of remedying the issues that I have with my Blackberry. If I can contribute anything to this forum from time to time, I will.

    welcome to the site.

You have to remember the 8830 was designed (and most other BB's before it) for business use, not personal use. Therefore they didn't do much to support newer websites such as ajax, or embedded media. The GPS is a Verizon issue, not a BlackBerry issue, just like Verizon does with other phones for GPS/Bluetooth.

Hello and Welcome to the Stacks.
For your battery pull issue, download the Soft Reset App, found at geekandproud.net
I use this app often and love it, and it will save you having to do the actual battery pull.

For all your other issues, I suggest visiting the 8800 forum.

    Very nice! Thank you!

I have a funny, short story. I've been showing my buddy, at work, what the BB can do for a couple of weeks now. Usually a "Hey! Check this out!" kind of thing. I was showing him a chart of a stock that I'm shorting, from a feed off my computer via a Remote Desktop software App., when I happened to mention the word "Phone"... He stared at me for a couple of seconds with this funny look on his face that made me wonder about what I just said... With a puzzled look he said "Are you telling me that you can talk to people on that?". I went on to say "Yeah, um, it's a phone...". He says "No kidding! I thought it was just a little computer or something." He was completely amazed! He is not very up on Tech. actually he just bought his first computer system EVER! That was the funniest thing that has happened to me in a long time! You should have seen his face.
