    8800 Plazmic base theme

Does anyone know where I can get an 8800 base theme for the Plazmic 4.2 kit? The only base themes that came with the install is an 8100 "icon" and "zen" theme. I heard you can customize the themes better using the new 4.2 CDK, but I think I need the correct base theme to start with? I tried opening the 8700 base theme that came with the 4.1 CDK, but it gives an error of unsupported version?

    Thanks for any info.

    Re: 8800 Plazmic base theme

chad - there isn't anything available for the 8800 yet. there are a few themers out there that have manipulated the 4.1 version for the 8700 to make icon set 8800 themes. lemme tell you it isn't THAT fun...the sizing of the icons for the 8700 are different sizes than the 8800. ive had 8700 users test my 8800 themes on their devices and they are extremely pixelated. and vice versa on the 8700 to 8800 themes.

    oh ya...welcome to pinstack

    here's a link for 8800 themes

cherri - thanks for the quick turnaround on this question. I was all set to start creating some wild themes, and now this--especially after reading the "what's new" with the CDK 4.2 and how you are supposed to be able to manipulate things like the battery icon, signal strength, etc..

Oh well, looks like I will have to wait to customize.

By the way...thanks for the warm reception.

    ya...total bummer huh?

pearl was released, what, last august? and plazmic released the 4.2 with pearl only in feb i think...took them awhile.

im hoping with the release of all the new qwerty bb's they will get on the ball and release something soon

    makes the themers anxious too

Cherri, what size do you use for 8800 theme icons?

    64x48 - respectively richard.

it was def hit or miss...the actual icon inside the 64x48 is 45x45 (transparent 64x48 - kind of like my zen icon tutorial)

this is on the SQUARE icon set

    Re: 8800 Plazmic base theme

So the base size is 64 x 48, which is the same for the 8700. And you were forcing a square icon by pasting them into the correct sized background?

    Thanks.

    Re: 8800 Plazmic base theme

I understand what you mean. That's how I made some smaller icons for my 8700 last year. Used the 7100 icons, reduced them, then pasted into the 64x48 transparent background

    Thanks

I too have just gotten an 8800 and wanted to Theme it only to have the same 4.2 vs. 4.1 problem. So, I'm using the 4.1 version. I think I've got it 95% down, but can't quite figure out is how to make the none active applications either partially or totally transparent.

You won't be able to with PTB 4.1. Since those apps weren't in the base theme. They are treated like 3rd party app icons. I have the same problem the 8700 themes on ny curve. We'll just have to wait until Plazmic gets a qwerty/portrait base theme foe 4.2.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: 8800 Plazmic base theme

I just installed PTB 4.2 and the only available device base theme is 8100 and I cannot find a way to add or change the base theme or device/plastics for the life of me... Is 4.2 limited to only the 8100 and if so why? What's going on?

    Re: 8800 Plazmic base theme

Currently 4.2 is limited to the Pearl/8100. It hasn't been updated yet for the 8800 or the Curve/8300. We all are hoping it will be soon.

Until then, use the 8700 series theme and version 4.1 of theme builder.

    Hope this helps.
