Zipped...thanks a bunch. As I said, the files were in the appropriate folder. It worked once I extracted the files into the folder. All the best!!!

Has anyone esle experienced the AppLoader freezing at the second last step " Wait for device initialization" ? I just completed the update and my phone won't get past the hourglass... The App loader is frozen at Wait for device.. Any suggestions? I'm getting paranoid.lol

im following the instructions and when i connect to dm, it doesnt pick up the new files....so it doesnt reboot or acknowledge 'the update' as others called it.

did you delete the vendor.xml file?
that has to be deleted for the dm to recognize the new OS

Chopstix, I just followed the same instructions. My provider is Rogers so the think is different but basically all you need to do is select the 8300(Curve) software from the list hit download and then run it. It took a little while to run the setup but my shared folder has now appeared.

Again, as someone mentioned in an earlier post, this is not the Desktop Software Download, it is a package download for the Curve. Installing the Desktop software alone will not solve the issue.

I went to the at&t site and downloaded the curve software and executed it....im re-installing dm now the ill try again, and we'll see what happens

so you are downloading the ATT os and trying to delete PTT and unlock all the vendor themes?
