I hear Papa Bear calling my name! I'd like all the bells and whistles on this one. I wonder if all three 8300 versions will be hitting the market around the same time? How long will I have to wait? 3 months? 6 months? 9 months? Argh!!!

I wonder if there are different models for different carriers......maybe 8300 goes to Cingular....8320 to TMO and 83xx to both or something like that?

With the iPhone due out in June. I've got to believe that RIM will release the 8300/8320/88XX around the same time to rain on Apple's parade.

Good point. You would think with the buzz surrounding the iPhone that it will be the main focus. You know RIM will make some noise right around the same time. You can bet on it. As for ATT? I'm sure they've planned out how they'll market each product. If the iPhone and the 8300's come out the same time, then I'm sure they won't mind promoting both. With two hot tickets right in time for summer, you know they'll be busy!

Re: new info on the 8300 from BG

I hear a lot of people complaining about why RIM is choosing to come out with basicly the same device just with different features. However, on every forum there are different groups of people who say things like:
1) I will never buy a phone with a cammera, they are not allowed where I work so I could never buy the phone Anyways.
2) I must have a cammera, it is so important to my job in marketing, sales, CS, etc that I won't buy another phone without one (most people aren't to worried about quality, just the ability to snap a pic then and there with one device)
3) cameras is nice but not a must have, I don't always get great service in all the areas I travel in so wifi would be great and is the one key feature that would sell the device to me.
Now I know you have all had to see the same things as I have in all these responses. So, to me, RIM is simply trying to take care of each of these "groups" by supplying the different feature lineups. It seems very smart to me to offer them this way because they are not limiting themselfs to just one of these groups and of course we all know that their goal is to sell as many units as possible!
Just my 2 cents

I doubt that's the case. The carriers will select which models they want to offer.

What i was wondering is if RIM was starting to customize the phone not just the OS to a carrier. Maybe Cingular wants a Cameraberry, Rogars wants a cameraberry with Wifi, and TMO wants a cameraberry with WiFi and GPS. I know that the carriers will decide what phones they will offer.

Just a thought......

Re: new info on the 8300 from BG

ATT/Cingular just released (in limited areas right now) a red BlackBerry Pearl. If T-Mobile gets it, I'm returning my black BlackBerry Pearl cause red is my favorite color.

It's possible but unlikely. RIM has a large number of clients (carriers) world-wide.
