Well, I was reading about some other stackers are getting their Curves upgraded through their AT&T vendors, so I tried the direct route. I bought 2 8300's back in July (prior to the 8310 release) for my wife and I. We are very happy with them. I happen to mention to her about the 8310 having GPS and she was bothered by it. Funny, I'm the one that usually needs the NEWEST toys, but this time it was her. So I called AT&T CS, stated my case about buying the 8300's and asked about upgrading to the 8310's. The CS said sure. They are sending out 2 NEW (not refurbed) 8310's along with 2 return mailers for the 8300's. My account will be credited the for what I spent for the 8300's and charged the same price for the 8310's. So its a free upgrade! Free next day shipping too! My contract will not even change. Thats a good mornings work... or did I miss something? Last edited by AuriemmaPhoto; 10-30-2007 at 01:02 PM. |

i think that ATT screwed up royally by not mentioning the fact that they would release two VERY similar bb's in a few months time... and...i think that they know they did and are willing to make up for that with letting you switch over to the 8310 ![]() just a hunch |

I specifically waited until the 8310 was available before jumping VZW's ship for AT&T but based on the CS I got with this purchase, I would think so. The rep I had on the phone listened to what I wanted (break out of a family plan, port a NJ number over to a MD service address plus ship new phone to KS address while I was out on a business trip). "No problem" was his answer and boom, it happened. Absoutely thrilled so let's hope the good karma carries over to you as well. BTW - for a road warrior like me? 8310 w/ onboard GPS is just friggin' awesome. I love my new phone! |

I just called asking for the switch, and they said I had to be within my 30 day buyers remorse period. Is there a way to circumvent this to get the 8310?

I don't know why I got lucky. They arrived yesterday, both are up and running. I'm just waiting for the return mailers to ship back the 8300s.

I bought my 8300 the day that it came out. Needless to say I was a bit annoyed when the 8310 came out. I called warranty exchange first and tried to get a swap that way and they told me they would only send me anothe 8300. I then spoke with a supv in CS and I had a brand new 8310 the very next day. No charge, and no contract extension.

Wow that's great that at&t does that not all phone services upgrade for free. Like suncom wouldn't do that.

Ya, Just called CS and she wouldn't do anything for me. Told me to go back to Point Of Service and plead my case that I bought an 8300 and within days it was discontinued and the 8310 came out. I think I'm stuck. Oh well. EDIT: I may not be stuck after all, just called the store if I'm still within my 30 days she will let me do another swap. Gotta go check receipts! (I had already swapped a Pearl for the Curve) EDIT #2: Missed the 30 window by 2 days. Again, oh well. Last edited by BusterJames; 11-13-2007 at 07:10 PM. |
