    Bluetooth PC connectivity....

I have an 8700g that I'm trying to connect to my pc to sync outlook with. I can't get the BT working as it is greyed out in the BB device manager when I click the properties.

I have an Inspiron 6000 with built in Bluetooth (Under Network adapters in device manager it is listed as Bluetooth Personal Are Network from TOSHIBA)

I've gone through the setup and I believe I have a 3rd party BT software. I have the little icon in the systray, but when I double click it, I get a box for Bluetooth Settings. Another problem is that I don't have "Bluetooth Devices" in the control panel. I only have "Bluetooth Local COM" When I click on that, all I get is com settings.

I've tried removing "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba" in add/remove programs, but then I lose all BT functionality completely.

So, my question is, How do I get the microsoft BT software to run?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Tim

When you open the BB Device Manager, which part is grayed out? In BB Device Manager, under the Device Connection tab, I've got a section titled Connection Settings and a section titled Bluetooth Settings. Under Bluetooth Settings, the Enable Bluetooth Support checkbox is checked.

Under Device Connection there is a section that says Bluetooth Settings. The box for Enable bluetooth Support is greyed out along with the configure bluetooth button.

I don't think anyone has had success yet with this. I have been trying for months with 2 laptops and 2 different BB's and nothing has worked.

Hey all....I actually work for T-Mobile. I have been told that you won't be able to transfer data through BT due to security issues. You don't want some really cool guy gettin all that info off your phone without you knowing!!!

I'm just hunting around for clues here, so next question:

What version of Windows are you running?

My guess is that the key is the fact that you don't have "Bluetooth Devices" in your Control Panel. (yeah, troubleshooting usually means stating all the seemingly obvious things) So that would be an XP setup issue, right?

Lets start at the top. What version Desktop Manager are you running. What is the model of the BT card. Is this an original BT card from Dell. I don't belive they ever put a BT card from Toshiba in ther systems. A dell card would most likely be a Truemobile 350. I would uninstall all bluetooth software, goto device manager and delete all bluetooth devices, and restart the computer. It will either install the device drivers itself or ask you for the drivers. I was able to get even non-Microsoft drivers to work correctly. So install just the device drivers not the software. Let me know where you are at and some more information.

i have exact same issue, i have the blackberry 7290 and the "Enable bluetooth support" is disabled. I am almost sure it is because the bluetooth is external on my machine (I added it via usb thumb drive looking thing). I can pair it to my bluetooth and use my pc as the speakers and mic but I cannot transfer data via desktop manager.
