8700g + IVT Corporation BlueSoleil (Bluetooth)

OK, I have an 8700g and I have a bluetooth dongle that came with software entitled "IVT Corporation BlueSoleil".

I turned on bluetooth and put in the USB dongle to my desktop and managed to even find "computer" as a paired device and paired it.

Using this program, it's like a solar system chart with the phone as a "ring".

So the two devices, my computer and the bluetooth are talking with each other...

    Now what?

What neat stuff can I do with this?

    Please advise.

I'm also desperately trying to figure out how to make my blackberry a modem for my laptop but don't have the first clue as to how to do that beyond connecting them either via Bluetooth or the USB cable and praying hard.

Please advise with that too; my carrier is CellularOne. I'm an IT professional, but sadly I don't even know the purpose of the bluetooth dongle.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~Hi Shawn, fraid I can't help with the modem stuff. However, I'm afraid that unless others know different, there's precisely nothing you can do with your dongle and bluetooth. The only BlueTooth functionality is hands free and that is limited because you device doesn't do voice dialling, sorry.

Re: 8700g + IVT Corporation BlueSoleil (Bluetooth)

When I use either 777 or #777, I get this from the speaker of my blackberry:

"message ytg32, welcome to cellular one. we're sorry; your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and dial again."

At least this means that it's talking somehow, so it's a start.... but that's the best I've gotten so far. Ideas?

    giamburrasca...

    When I run the dongle...

I can go into the bluetooth in options and pair the device.

After paired I can select "bluetooth device discovery" from the desktop software...

and then my phone shows up on the ring.

from there, I can't get it to do much, but I can connect on one thing that's not grayed out....

serial port service A and B.

B lets me connect without disrupting the blackberry.

Connecting to A produces a message on the phone and renders it unusable otherwise "connecting to desktop" which never goes away.

Somehow I thought there'd be useful features with the dongle. IDK.

I think you can at least use it with desktop manager to sync you BB to your PC, but not sure what else you can do right now. Maybe able to do more when OS 4.2.x.xxx is available for the 8700.

i have the same usb bluetooth dongle
the only thing that i find it useful for is syncing my 8700c with outlook

what is kind neat to do is connecting my bluetooth headset with the computer so i can use it as a head set and mic...
    it'll even play through itunes.
and you can talk over it with google talk or msn etc
other then that it's kinda useless to be honest

digitalstack, as a matter of interest, how do you achieve your synch with bluetooth.

Lets assume that your BB Bluetooth is on and in discover mode and you have connected to your desktop dongle. What then?
