Since you are posting in the 8100 forum, I am guessing that you are searching for 8100 themes. Right now you only have two options: 1. Point your WAP browser to www.mobile.blackberry.com and search for themes there (I believe there are 4 there). 2. Edit your ALX file and unlock all the vendor themes there. There is no theme creator or other custom themes yet available for the 8100. |

What do you mean 8100? From what I remember, the following themes are the ones to be unlocked in the alx: Cingular Vodafone 02 02 zen Orange And there is one or two more but I can't remember which they are... |

Unlocking the vendor themes will unlock all the vendor themes that are in whatever OS you are editing. When you go in there, you will see there will be differences listed, such as: Reduced keyboard, Full Keyboard, 7290 series, etc. Basically, if you are unlocking them for a Pearl, the only ones you have to change are the vendor files for the Reduced Keyboard. 8700 or other full qwerty device, the full keyboard. Hope that makes sense. |

Let me check something...If I am not mistaken, there are 3 lines for each theme: Reduced Full Qwerty 320 and full qwerty |

The 240X160 is the reduced size screen right? All these freakin screen sizes... Okay, yes, pretty much, if you have an 8700 and you are unlocking the vendor themes for it, the only ones you need to unlock are the 8700 themes. Unlocking the reduced keyboard themes are worthless when trying to load into the device, unless you just have some extra time on your hands and decide "What the heck, I'm bored, let me just edit all of them". Which brings up a question I never thought of before, and I don't know, I'm not thinking clearly right now, but: If its on OS for the 8700, why would 7100 info even be in an ALX file? I am guessing because the ALX files are pretty much the same? I mean, that being said, can I download an OS for the 8700 and an OS for the 7100, delete the Blackberry.alx file from the 8700 OS and replace it with the Blackberry.Alx file from the 7100 OS? Does that make sense or am I sounding like an idiot? |

If your sounding like an idiot, I'm one too, because what you said does make sense. I'm thinking that it's easier to make one alx file that covers all devices and there is another control the eliminates all the incompatible files on download, or something like that. Think of the logistics and quality control to maintain multiple versions of a file, all having the same name. What would happen if you pulled the wrong one in when making an OS Build? The testers would be pulling there hair out. If I have time, this weekend I'll download an 8700, and an 7100 OS and do a compare on the .alx files. See exactly what the differences are. Rcbjr. |
