Most carriers require you to get a BlackBerry data plan just to purchase the phone, so then many go and buy it from a 3rd party and wonder why they cannot do things like MMS etc. That's because it's not like regular phones, it has a specific design function.
Asshat, I didn't ask for your opinion on what I should use my phone for. I have my reasons. You wasted two paragraphs bitching about something irrelevant to my question. Thanks.

Question Re: Y! 2.0 Workaround for ATT Subscribers

I have read through the posts and it seems my problem is most similar to #19 (showpost.php?p=479429&postcount=19).

    a) When I follow the instructions, I can't drop a file on the "right" window -- nothing happens.
    b) If I just try to restore the .ipd -- it tells me "Cannot restore readonly database(s) on device". I've confirmed the file is not read-only on my HD and tried via IE and Firefox
    c) The servicebooks I deleted were all my mail ones and ones that seemed related to IM:
    me@hotmail [CMIME]
    BBFS1 [BBIMConfig]
    me@yahoo [CMIME]
I still have the following -- should I be deleting any of these?
    Desktop[BrowserConfig]
    Desktop[MDS]
    Desktop[BBIM]
    Desktop[ALP]
    Desktop[IPPP]
    Desktop[SYNC]
    Desktop[CICAL]
    Desktop[CMIME]
    Blackberry Internet Browsing Service
    Cingular Browser [BrowserConfig]
    Cingular WAP Secure Transport [W
    Wap Push Config [WapPushConfig]
    IPPP for 5 Click [IPPP]
Browser Config for 5 Click [Brows..
    Provisioning [PROVISIONING]

This seems like a pretty active forum so I appreciate any guidance -- as I am still stuck on the "Service not enabled for this handheld."
    Thanks!!

So when I added the service book from the first post, it deleted my blackberry web browser. How do I get that back? It's not letting me go to the mobile.blackberry.com website from the medianet browser. (I have the bb curve 8310 from at&t)
Also, how do I send sms messages from the yahoo messenger?
    Thanks in advance!

Alright I wanted this app so bad I finally was able to get the service books courtesy of my good friend flash24. So here are the steps in getting it to work.

1.Make sure you download the application from the mobile.blackberry.com website directly from your Blackberry Browser.

    2. Download the service book file from here. Click Here

    3. Launch your Desktop Manager, connect your BB.

    4. made a backup of my original blackberry files
    5. open "backup/restore"
    6. clicked on advance
    7. it shows two boxes, the box on the left was empty...box on right had all the files that were on my phone.
    8. the service books i downloaded on step 3 were on my desktop so i dragged and dropped it to the right box on advance "backup/restore"
    9. grabbed my phone went to settings>options>advanced options>service books
    10. once in service books, i deleted all the extra service books which were email accounts that were not mine
    11. after i finished deleting the new service books that were not mine (the email account service books) opened a browser and surfed to my BIS with ATT (used computer to go to the site not my blackberry browser)
    12. click on the link called service books
    13. then click on "send service books"
    14. you will know it worked because you will get emails saying you have added new email accounts to your phone.
    15. open YIM 2.0 login
    16. if you get to this step you are happy because you are using YIM

(BIS login page to resend your service books)

Thanks towaxmerchant for the making detailed instructions. make sure to give him props for that
When performed step #8, the new service books wouldn't drop into the right-side box. So I dropped them into the left-side box. When I clicked on the arrow to move the new service books into the right-side box, the message "the operation you have selected will remove all entries on the device from the following databases and replace them with the corresponding entries in the current file. Do you wish to proceed?"
I'm not sure if I should proceed with this step or not. Could someone help me with this, please? I am following the directions in this post, but could be doing something wrong and not know it.

Also, I looked ahead to step #9 and when I went into advanced options service books, I noticed that I have two email addresses that are duplicated in this folder. I have a total of four personal addresses, but two of these are duplicated (which totals 6 emails in this folder). I didn't see any email addresses in there that were not mine (as referenced in step #10). Is this normal? It doesn't seem like it would be.
Any additional help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
