Is there any way of getting around this, as I have no data plan and don't wish to use the BB Browser?

Would you buy a pager and just use it for the clock? I don't understand buying an email device and not using it for it's designed purpose. I know (many users) will say for heavy text messaging but there are devices that are designed for THAT (Treo 680/750, Motorola Q, Samsung BlackJack ($40) Pantech Duo).

Most carriers require you to get a BlackBerry data plan just to purchase the phone, so then many go and buy it from a 3rd party and wonder why they cannot do things like MMS etc. That's because it's not like regular phones, it has a specific design function.

if they would have done it to make money off the sms text fees than they would have made it impossible for even the work-around to even work at all
