I dont think xcolorevent is getting enough attention to it.

xColorEvent is a simple and small utility, that allows color your BlackBerry Pearl trackball with different color for different events. Now it supports events: incoming phone call and incoming message. You can use this utility when BlackBerry in silent mode. Just select color you like and save changes, you’ll noticed with color trackball when event is triggered.

    get it here http://www.x-berrysoft.com/color_event.php

I then would suggest to download the .alx file and use the dm to install.

    Re: xcolorevent for 8100 trackball

it hasn't exactly worked well for me either.

first, when i enable a color on to color the pearl (like the app colorpearl does), it stays on all the time - after the backlight goes off, it stays on; even if i put it in the holster and it goes to sleep, the pearl is still lit. second, even if it is set to a color, it will "reset" somehow, and stop showing the color. i'll have to go back in, switch it to another color and back to the one i want. (if that makes sense).

it's a good thought. i wanted it to replace colorpearl, but i see no need for it really. the colorpearl program (here) changes the pearl color all the time, which i want. and to flash the pearl when the phone rings, i just have the ringtone lighting set to trackball.

worth a try to see if you like it, but i don't need it - and there seems to be a few bugs still.

Also for xcolorevent someone said that you can set the trackball to light up when your phone rings. This feature can be used without installing xcolorevent.
If you go to "Call Log"- "Options"-"General Options"- "Ringtone Lighting" - then change it to "Trackball" your trackball will light up in different colors when you have an incoming call. I don't know if it works for vibrate or silent mode, I'll have to check that out and repost but I would think it would.

you can use this in combination with color pearl, just do NOT enable the Highlight now feature on xcolorevent, or your trackball will remain lit up.

    Re: xcolorevent for 8100 trackball

I checked on my phone and if you set your phone to "Ringtone Lighting" the trackball will light up in different colors when you recieve a call with your ringtone on. It will not light up when your phone is set to vibrate or silent. This is without downloading Xcolorevent or Colorpearl.

Yeah...the 8100 is the only one with the color led's behind the trackball.

I had xColorEvent, and currently use ColorPearl...I'd have to say that ColorPearl is better!! easier to use, sleek and does the job!!
