    Lightbulb Wireless Amber Alerts.

It is simple and will allow you to give the zip codes for 5 cities that you are in the most to get alerts. As a BB addict, most of my news comes from my blackberry and I listen to ipod and satellite radio so this may be the only chance I would have of knowing about an amber alert. I am assuming that the rest of the stacks are as technology dependent and wrapped as me, so it makes since that the statement is true for you as well.
    Thanks
    Steve

Great post, thanks for this. Always good to be aware of these alerts, parent or not.

A mod should make this sticky. My 2 cents.

I agree as a parent, the only other way I woul get it is on the signs on the side of the interstate on my way to work. I signed up about 5 months ago and love the service. If it wa smy child, I would really wany everyone to get them no matter if they signed up for them or not. Just a thought.

Great post! I found it interesting that when I put my phone number in, it redirected me to Verizon's site. Just so everyone knows, on Verizon, you have to create an account if you don't already have one, then you can set up your alert manager in there. It's simple though.

Amber alerts are definitely something I want to be aware of. I have a child, but I would want to know about them even if I didn't.

    Thanks ican!

Does this go through email or SMS? Im guessing SMS since they ask for your number.

Correct it goes through SMS, hopefully the cost is not an issue, but they DO NOT charge you for the message. It does redirect you to your carries site, as the carries has to send the message. If you change carries, but your number is ported you have to resign up.
