your bb won't work, shut down...
you'd have to reload the OS...wipe the bb to factory settings...too many scenarios!

but then, you got pinstack to help you fix it :-P

that's what I'm counting on. Thinking of creating a Custom BBalx. Want to add certian 3rd party cods and get rid of a bunch of the oem extras. Also planning on messing with the themes stuff too. Shouldn't be too dificult right?

as long as you have a backup of the stuff you wanna save, i say go for it
we have a couple of pros on here that like to do that kind of stuff test the limits of the bb

Be carefull, if you get certain jvm errors there's no chance of restoring the operating system.
I've had the problem before, just send the phone back under warranty and pray they dont check.

To me the alxs look more like some kind of 'loader scripts?' than real programs. we should be able to remove most the language settings, extra apps(and their .cod files?) and excess carrier settings. also, while editing throw a few new lines of script to load other settings and files. will get back to messing with it later tonight. ps. anyone know a quicker way to reinstall the current(common files) OS?

k.. uh think I'm in way over me head found a few other files that possiably need editing, one(specification.pkg) holds the OSes file sizes. the other(PkgDBCache.xml) holds all the language support information. Hoping someone with alot more knowhow will jump in here somewhere...

initial success. loaded a 500b smaller bb.alx containing new code loading a 3rd party .cod. now for round two, massive changes. Hoping to use all this to create an ultimate backup.. apps, themes, lighter memory req. ect.
