Does anyone know how hard it would be to write a short program to make the BB 8800 etc treat the "volume" keys on the side as scroll keys when no actually on the phone?
I remember this a fairly easy on the Palm.
Has anyone done this yet?

No idea...but why don't you use the

Space - scroll down
ALT+Space - scroll up
T - Top of page
B - Bottom of page

Yes this works. But for some things--like reading long items--the side keys are likely to be much more convenient. At least this turned out to be the case on the Treo.

sorry these aren't treos, they're far better they're blackberrys . I find the space key to page down pretty convenient even when reading long items.

I like the idea of the volume key scroll. It gives the pearl and the newer blackberry's the older fee with the side scroll weal.
