Is wifi required for vlingo? Can't seem to get past the connection wifi screen... I have a 8100 with .37 in it....~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
There are some issues reported with activating 8100 series and the developers are working on this.
Suggest you keep an eye on these threads for updates:
Working for me
I have an 8100 on T-Mobile and the BETA app works for me!
Does anyone have the alx for the beta file the OTA is giving me a module error "accessing a secure API" this happened with the previous version and had to install it via DM
After using Vlingo for one day this is what I think:
I hope this fades with time because I heard it learns your voice the more you use it but right now I am getting sentences that are so off from what I am saying sometimes. I've gotten sentences where 9 of the 10 words are wrong. I was hoping in the years since voice calling was first introduced it would be better at recognizing words by now.
2. No Send
There is no voice command to send the message after you are done so you still have to fumble around your phone with your hands to send it.
e-mails don't start in the subject like so you have to scroll up to it and add a subject.
4. Have to say command first
you can't just press the button and start talking and have the text go into whatever test feild you are currently in. Because of this you can't use it for BBMs, IMs, website feilds, ect.
5. NO REPLY option
You can't reply to an sms by saying "reply" after you read it. You have to say 'text billy' and then wait for it to pop up saying 'text lily' and then change it to the person you want and reply.
6. Can't use open command for 3rd party apps
If i want to see the weather while driving I can't say 'open weather' or MLB scores.
7. Doesn't read back your message to you
There is no option to have your e-mail or txt read back to you afterwards. So you have no way of knowing if it was written correctly without reading it. This kinda ruins the point of the app because you still have to use your eyes making it hard to use while driving. Same as how it can't read aload the txt msgs you revieve.
Only happened twice but it froze while recording had to turn off and on. It is a very slow app because of its level of sofistication. I imagine it has a high memory demand and I always have a million things running at once so thats probably why that happened.
I can def learn to love this app though. I am already obsessed with it.

1. It learned my voice pretty well and works great. My only thing is, whenever there is an update, it erases older version. Does this reset the accuracy of the voice recognition?

3. You have to say "Send email to John SUBJECT Lets talk MESSAGE lets talk about blah blah blah.
4. Once RIM releases API to 3rd party devs they should be able to incorporate other blackberry applications too.
5. This would be great. Probably in the works.
6. Same as 4.
7. That would be useful.
8. Never froze for me.
