Ubertwitter/Paid and Free Version now offered

Just saw this on the Ubertwitter website:

    Unlimited Upgrade Subscription and Ads

We have turned the advertisements back on to support the free version of ÜberTwitter and we are offering a subscription to ÜberTwitter with unlimited upgrades for a full year with no advertisements on any of those versions forever for $4.99 USD. Since we are still in the latter stages of our Beta program, the year long subscription period will not start until we push out our first full-release version, likely in early September. You can purchase the subscription here.

Is that 4.99 one time or monthly?? When I see the word "subscription", it leads me to believe it is a monthly thing.

This is what it says when you click the link:

    ÜberTwitter

Thank you for deciding to purchase a subscription to ÜberTwitter for BlackBerry devices, you won't be disappointed!
We offer a simple $4.99 USD subscription which gives you:

    • Unlimited upgrades for one year
    • No advertisements forever on any of the versions released during the subscription year

At the end of one year you will not be required to upgrade nor purchase a new subscription.
You will need to enter your BlackBerry device's PIN number below in order for us to upgrade your device automatically once you install ÜberTwitter. The PIN number can be found by going to Options -> Status on your device, make sure you copy it exactly as it is shown on your device.

Yeah, it still isn't clear as to whether or not that is monthly or a one time fee.

I'm pretty sure from reading the page it's good for the year but then I'm confused after the year is up. I'll send UT an email and see if I can get some clarification.

From the way I read it and tweets from them, I see it as a annual subscription, 4.99 per year.....I don't think I like that....

I like it better than 4.99/month!

Wonder what SocialScope will end up like once it's officially released.

I downloaded and never in stalled SocialScope until 3 days ago.
I've tried every BB Twittering program there is.
    SocialScope wins hands down.
I would pay for this program vs getting others for free!

I had UT for awhile and do agree that SS is way better. I'll stick with SS.

I think if there will be a paid version it will probably be comparable to Ubertwitter and Tweetgenius which charge $4.99
