It's a game for practicing SureType.....it should only get pushed to VZW 8130 Pearls....you would have no use for it with your full keyboard on your 8330

Finally An Answer To the Problem

    Okay, people.

    Here is the run down:

Called Verizon Data Support and talked to a tech who does not want me to publish his name on the forums. But, after I guided him to this forum - he was very shocked that this is happening and is in the process of contacting his department head and sending emails to higher ups to look into this issue on the forum.

He also wanted me to tell everyone please bare with them as they are looking into the situation. From what he was saying, it seems that someone hacked into the service book from blackberry to solicate their software to the Verizon and T-Mobile networks and possibly other CDMA networks as well. Anyone who installs the Trooper Typing Software might release information of contacts and other personal information. It has been advised by Verizon to "NOT" install Trooper Typing. They are now in the process of finding out the cause of the problem. If anyone else wants to call Verizon and talk to Data Support, guide them to this forum and have Verizon seriously look into this problem - please do so, I was able to do it... and the more techs we have looking into the crackberry forums the better off we will be.

You can't delete it. But, since I have been on the phone all day with Data Support, they are removing it from the Service Book. Since, it seems that Blackberry and RIM was doing an upgrade to the 2.5 BIS browser and never told the people or the providers that Trooper Typing will be spammed with the upgrade they are removing it from the service book. All you have to do, is wait 2-3 days and do a battery pull and it will disappear.

Too many customers were calling up the providers and saying WTF is this and why do I have it, I never asked for it. So, loads of people were saying it was "SPAM" which in a tech way it is - cause you never asked for it and did not download it.

Verizon Contract states that they will not allow anyone to SPAM their customers. But, since it seems that it was pushed forcefully on the customers and the customers complained it is being removed.

I can understand where customers including myself are coming from since the pearl 8130 doesn't have much internal memory as it is and I would request that it be removed as well.

They did email me back saying:

We do apologize for any inconvenience. At this time Verizon Wireless does not push software to our devices. I have researched this issue and it seems other users are experiencing the same thing. This is the first time I have heard of this program. It appears this is an issue that will require additional troubleshooting and possible escalation to our third level of support. We may need to get the network engineers involved so they can research this further and also get Blackberry involved. Please contact the Wireless Data Technical Support department at your convenience.

Thanks jabber_jaws for following up on this. I did not want to spend all that time on the phone with tech support...

Thanks for all the great ingo jabber_jaws. I thought was crazy or couldn't remember if I had downloaded it or not.

I figured it was just part of the BIS upgrade, but I didn't know there were memory leak issues with Trooper Typing.

I was terrified when you mentioned:
