Thumbs up Testers Wanted: BlackBerry anti-spam product

    Hey folks,

We're looking for beta testers for an anti-spam product for the BlackBerry. The only requirement is that testers must use BIS to get email from a pop account. A few of us involved with the development have been using it for several months now and it's been very, very effective (in spite of the recent increase in spam).

Testing will begin very soon, and for the time being this will be a closed beta. Hopefully we'll be able to open it up soon, but we need to see how it scales initially and don't want to get ahead of ourselves.

If you're interested in being a part of the test, please send me a PM and include the following information:

    Name:
    Contact email address:
Email address you wish to test the spam filtering on (if different):
    Carrier:
    Model of BlackBerry:

Thanks, and if anyone has any questions, please post them here for all to see.

    Best,

    Layton

A reminder: For your benefit, please send me your information via a private message. (Less spam is what we're going for, after all!)

Also, I forgot to mention the site's address: it's hamberry dot com (blame my lousy post count). Registration codes for beta accounts will be given to those participating in the test.

    Best,

    Layton

    How do we know...

that this is for real? A new poster with 2 posts under their belt asking for our email addresses. Can you give us any more information, such as your company, how this product will work? As far as spam on the BlackBerry, I've deployed the measures in the following link to many of our employees and had great results with it:

I guess maybe I'm just overly cautious.

Your caution is understandable. But if this were a shady way of acquiring email addresses, it's a pretty lousy way of doing it!

When the test starts and people get it set up, I'm sure they'll post their experiences here - perhaps you'll feel more comfortable with it then.

The link you provided, while very good information, doesn't apply to pop accounts, which is where Hamberry shines. I personally receive email to about 8 different pop accounts with my BlackBerry, and the development of this product was actually inspired by my getting so much spam on the thing that I eventually turned email alerts off - kind of defeating the purpose of it.

Now, two or there pieces of spam making their way through the filters is a bad day, and I often go several days without seeing anything.

Thank you for such an application.
You're welcome! Please PM me your information (I'd solicit it via PM but I'm still shy of 10 posts here); we'd love to have you in on the test.

Go to the website (hamberry dot com) and email us there. Be sure to mention that you're Gadget_Guy here so I can keep track of things.

    Thanks all,

    This guy sounds legit!
Hahaha! I'd trust him, but I don't have a data subscription, so yeah!
Really professional sounding and all... Or just a REALLY COOL ROBOT! AHH!
Hahaaha! So yeah, good luck on testing, and I hope your spam blocker benefits everyone!

A reminder for those interested in testing who can't PM me due to the 10-post requirement:

Please visit hamberry dot com, and send us your information via the email link at the bottom of the page.

Antair already makes a BlackBerry Spam Filter.

    BlackBerrySpamFilter.com
