    Hi all,

Is there a Skype (or other similar app) that I can install on my Blackberry 8310?

I'm thinking I could save money by Skyping my contacts.

    Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for the info. Would you have the link to the download site so I can give it a try?

Are there any other apps that will do the same job?

iSkoot is what powers the Skype services on "3" (mobile) globally.

The way it works is it calls a national number, and then routes all outgoing VoIP calls via this "invisible" phone call...

As was pointed out above, it's probably not going to save you much with national calls, but it should save you a fair bit on international calls 'cause you're technically only calling a national number!

Personally I'm not really into the whole VoIP (voice-over Internet protocol) thing, but I HAVE used iSkoot (on Microsoft Windows Mobile: Professional 6) and it's not too bad... Not perfect, but acceptable.

Installed iSkoot on my 8310 last week.

Install worked like charm. Had to change the APN settings before it would log into my Skype account.

Thumbs up for iSkoot. It's currently free of charge works just like Skype. Only functionality missing that I know of is the File Transfer option.

Whilst I DO have my APN settings curently enterted, iSkoot tells me that it's using my BIS connection for Internet access...

    Interesting.

This newer iSkoot is better than it was last year but the IM+ Skype program ($30) is a ton better if you do a lot of Skype chat.

Check your TCP and APN settings, after that try a reinstall you may have dropped some data during the dl.
