"The beta for Signal-Location Utilities just came out recently, and looks extremely useful for wireless professionals. By plugging into BlackBerry Maps, you can find tower locations, signal strength, available services, and tower IDs. Easily save tower locations and export them as CSV files or into Google Maps on your desktop"

Anyone gotten this thing to work. With less than stellar coverage here in Arkansas this could really be a neat application for me. I've loaded it, opted for Google Maps to be the mapping application in its options but I can't get it to do anything?

...and I can't find any instructions with it or on the web site.

Only CDMA networks provide the locations of their cell towers.

If you want assistance, the developer is very active and responsive in BlackBerry Forum's Aftermarket forum.

I realized that and that cdma networks allow codes to their users to update tower info, etc. - I was with Alltel for 12 years. I just thought that, since a tower is somewhere anyway, it might be available to ALL cell users thinking some kind of triangulation-location like Google Maps does to show your approximate location without GSP. I guess I'm too simple to understand why that info can't be given to the user but whatever....

It doesn't seem to "map" for me. Maybe I confused myself, there are all kinds of settings with this program.

The most important option is to make sure "Carrier provides cell site location" is on. Also, if you're trying to "View all on map" with Google Maps, it won't work because the developer hasn't yet figured out how to make Google Maps mark multiple locations. I think it's supposed to work if you use BB Maps instead.

OK everyone, let me make this clear for you.
If your BB model does not end with 30, you CANNOT use this program!
Example: DCorrea702, you have an 8310. This runs on GSM, not CDMA. Therefore it won't work on your phone.
Not the developer's fault, just happens that only CDMA networks provide GPS locations in their cell towers.

If your BB model does not end with 30, AND your carrier is NOT Verizon Wireless...
