| Push RSS newsreader
I've been thinking about how nice it would be to have a push RSS newsreader for my BlackBerry so that I could read my favorite blogs and news even when I don't have service. Does anyone know of anything like this? I'm considering writing my own, if there's nothing else out there. RIM's developer's guide has a sample of a push rss newsreader that uses a browser push channel, but that requires MDS and I don't have an enterprise server. |

It's got to be possible. I just got a message yesterday saying there is a new WAP PUSH horoscope available. |

It's totally possible, the only question is whether it can be done without BES. I'm thinking maybe I can push the news via emails or browser messages and have a client program that hides the messages from the normal message view and adds the data into some newsreader program. Perhaps there's a better way though? I really wish I could get a push channel to work without MDS. Eli |

I'm not a programmmer, and not on BES and I get a message in my messages area that has a globe icon and is a push message via WAP. |

I'm using PicoNews, It doesn't deal with the browser at all. It seems to be a very friendly Blackberry app, and its free. It actually has three modes of downloading feeds, Manual, poll, and push. Check it out, its the best one I've seen so far that I don't have to wait for a browser page. http://www.piconews.com/download.php - Blackberry Download page http://piconews.com/piconews.jad - OTA download |

I ended up buying a license for NewsClip and I'm pretty happy with it, but it does do several things that bug me. I'm trying PicoNews out now and it looks pretty cool. Thanks for the suggestion! Eli |

I'm giving this a try vs. the Pocket Day RSS and it's pretty nice. Fast, easy and good choices built in. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the amount of news and information that is available at my fingertips. I want to read it all and just don't have the time! |

Anyone using an RSS reader, PictoNews, Pocketday, NewsClips or other should be reading the latest from Pinstack. http://feeds.feedburner.com/PinstackRimBlackberryForums |

The problem with PicoNews is that it doesn't appear to handle an HTML. Seems like a kind of annoying limitation.

I've been relatively satisfied with litefeeds (see litefeeds.com). It seems to strip everything down to text though.
