But I'm also like you and would love for it to
be OS 4.1 friendly!!!! Maybe in time, one will be made for us.
I think there is many still with OS 4.1 and would love to have
    something like this.
Sorry about the confusion, it was a typo. I am however working this weekend to try to make this OS 4.1 friendly. Please stay tuned to this thread!

    Vince,

Thanks for your feedback. What price would you suggest or be willing to pay for this?
Consider my next upgrade will support OS 4.1 and MANY more BBs out there. The following release will include support for custom profiles you create.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I really do appreciate it.

    Matthew,
I think something around $10 to $12 is a fair price. You have to remember even though a blackberry is a business phone mine is used purely for personal use. I have seen it mentioned many times if software was cheaper then much more people would buy it.
It is a great program but just cannt get myself to pay $17 for it.
    I am tight with money

Re: Profile Switching Application Now Available

Now Vince, that's a better way to present your objection.

I also use my BB for personal use only. And like you, I have to decide whether a particular program is worth it to me or not. In my case, I have a few $25, $35 and $50 applications, a fair number of $10 - $12 ones, and several free ones too. I balk at the $175+ ones whereas I don't at the $30 ones -- if it's something I feel is worth it... to me. At the risk of sidetracking this thread, my personal pet peeve is subscription applications (TeleNav, Weatherbug, Worldmate, etc.).

Anyways, to get back on track; even though I am not a corporate BB user, I find myself forgetting to put the phone on vibe at work (resulting in my providing a source of entertainment at meetings), or forgetting to take it off vibe after work (resulting in my missing calls/sms because I don't carry the phone with me when I come home). Or find myself being woken up at night because I left the phone on loud, and I don't necessarily want to read an email asking me if I'd like to participate in a survey.

So for me, I find value in something like a Profile Switching Application; that is, to make something easier and more convenient for me. Everyone has a threshold where a price will be a deciding factor; but not everyone's will be the same.

    Matthew--

Will the upcoming releases still require Keystroke Injection permission to be enabled for the application? That is a major showstopper for BES users. Thanks

Unfortunately, RIM has not supplied the hooks necessary to change the profile. This forces me to use keystroke injection to accomplish the task. I realize it does cause complications for BES users. I wish there were another way, but until RIM opens up that part of the API, we're stuck.

I'm looking to get my next release out by Monday morning. Will include a bunch of fixes, and OS 4.1 support to allow 71xx devices.

"Master Profile" will be do-able, but will really just be a rule that you can create to span the whole day. Making that possible will allow for nested profiles. Could get confusing for some, but it will be possible to do, and will be included in the next release.

The recurring profiles support/changes will not be until a later release.

1st, thanks for all of your excellent work!

As for a Master Profile, it's already a little confusing to me!

    Here's the scenario...

I want to be able to set a Profile for when I go to see a movie. I want the device to switch to Quiet Profile during the film (say, 2:10-4:30pm), and revert back to my previous Profile, Normal, after the movie ends.

How would YOU set that up???

When I simply tried to set a profile for Quiet, between those hours, Profile Changer changed the Profile from Normal to Quiet at 2:10, but did NOT change it back to Normal at 4:30pm!

I then read that I should create a profile rule from, say, 12 midnight until 11:59pm (all day), with the Profile set to Normal.

Tried this, and again, it changed from Normal to Quiet at the correct time, but didn't change it back at 4:30pm.

How would I address this, without having to create an appointment simply to change the profile for a Movie (or appointment, or whatever). Unless I'm mssing something, seems you need to create two Profile Rules...

I think a Master Profile, which would tell the program to set it to Normal, or whatever, whenever there isn't another active Profile Change is an excellent idea, if that's what you have in mind! keep in mind, however, that according to the testing I did, it is NOT the same as simply creating a rule that spans the entire day, seeing how when I did that, and then created my Movie Rule, it still did NOT change back to Normal Profile at 4:30. Somehow, the Master setting needs to check, and if no Rule is currently active, make sure that the Master Profile selection is turned on.

Hope I'm not making things even more confusing for everyone!

(Has anyone else had success in creating a 24 hour rule, and then nesting other rules and gotten the 24 hour rule to effect a change?)
