Need Feedback on New Mobile Multimedia Web App

Hey everyone, a few months ago a thread was started by mrmoe talking about our mobile site builder tool, Swift, and we got a lot of positive feedback and interest from people in the forums.

One of the pieces of feedback was for more multimedia capabilities. Although, we're not yet offering the ability to automatically transcode and host the files on our servers, we've taken the first step, which is to use our knowledge of handsets to try and match what media can be displayed on what phone. We envision someone building a mobile page with several versions of a movie and only the versions that are viewable on your phone are displayed.

We've done a bunch of internal testing, but we're eager to get some more feedback. So if you get a chance, go to http://www.swiftmob.com/ and create a site, post your url here and add in any thoughts and suggestions you may have.

So this allows me to build a site with AJAX and upload media via PC to view and share later via mobile device? Would it then stream to the device or need to be downloaded?

    Either way, Sounds pretty cool!

pretty much, we recommend using a service like http://box.net/ to host the files, then you just plug the url into the Multimedia component and away you go. If the media files are streamable, they will be streamed to the device. jad files for blackberry themes should also work as well.

Will it matter what OS a person has? Will it be similar to say how YouTube works for some 4.3 OS and all 4.5 OS users>

nope, it all depends on the capability of the phone. Like not all phones can view 3gpp video, but if the phone does support it, the multimedia component is smart enough to detect it and display it for the phone
