Well the Firewall option is in Options>>Security Options>>Firewall, as for the "unsupported media error", I guess I didn't really specify the error I was getting. When I start the stream it says "loading" and then just sits there. The problem I believe I'm having is it hits the firewall and doesn't start the stream.

Thank you so much. I have been looking for a way to listen to my favorite radio station, woxy.com, on my BlackBerry, which is behind a BES, and this is it.

Hello, i'm the developer behind Moodio. I'll try to answer as many questions as possible.

I'm affraid there is not much that can be done about this. This is how streaming works: the player uses a buffer. In the case of Moodio, there's double buffering: once between the source streaming server and Moodio and once between Moodio and your phone.

Never heard about this error before. When exactly does it occur? Directly when you open m.moodio.fm or somewhere else on the site? Do you by any chance use a proxy server that might cause this problem? Are you sure you're browsing to m.moodio.fm and not www.moodio.fm or www.m.moodio.fm?

    www.m.moodio.fm should work now too.

The station is already in the database and works for me. If it doesn't work for you: do other stations work?

Here i am I think we need to find out whether devices with firmware < 4.3 support streaming at all.

Could someone who has the older firmware try if streams from www.zoovision.com, wap.tunin.fm or m.youtube.com (the streams on the site, not the java app) work? If they do, there's a chance that we can make Moodio work too.

This sounds like the media player doesn't receive any audio data. Might be a firewall problem.

This is not related to a specific station. Even if there is a problem with the station's URL, Moodio starts sending a "SIT disconnected" tone (the kind of tone you hear when you dial a phone number that doesn't exist). If it doesn't play anything at all, it probably means that the audio data does not arrive at the media player. This could be caused by a firewall on your device or maybe because you're on a (home or carrier) network that doesn't allow or "understand" streaming.

The problem with this is that there is no real standard for media streaming on the (non-mobile) Internet. There's MP3/shoutcast, Windows Media, RealMedia, etc. Even if you would make a player that supports these formats, a lot of stations -especially the ones in the US- do everything they can to hide the actual stream URL from you. They use all kinds of creative "inline" or "embedded" players in their website that use JavaScript, Flash, Java, etc. etc. and most of them only work on MS Windows. So unless a standard is created and adopted for streaming media, or they start making phones that run on Windows Vista i don't think that it's going to be any easier than this..

It won't. "unsupported media" means the software on your phone doesn't understand the media type. A firewall might stop the audio data from reaching the actual player. This could explain why for some people the media player does open but doesn't play anything.

By the way, thanks very much for moodio. Looks like a great program.

The "wrong number" noise means Moodio can't open the source stream.

I think you mean "106.1 KISS FM Dallas"?

The URL in the database is:

    mms://a1679.l2009111388.c20091.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1679/20091/v0001/reflector:11388?auth=caEdkbocsc_cocObFaLdWaDb5bRap cUb4bL-biANvM-4q-LM1X8_4ppFAon1JDvjEsDq&aifp=1234&CPROG=SIMULCAST&M ARKET=DALLAS-TX&MNM=2&NG_FORMAT=chr&NG_

I think the 'auth' part is some kind of session identifier and the session is probably expired by now. If you can supply me with an URL that keeps working i'll put it in the database.

I can't open the stream via their website at all - it says that it's only available to people in the USA. The Moodio server is in the Netherlands, so if it worked yesterday then they apparently only check where you're from on the site and not on the stream server itself..

Thanks! I must say, by the way, that i'm a bit surprised by the enormous amount of new signups we received since Moodio has been mentioned on this site
It does only work with 4.3 Operating System and above we have been able to figure out.
Yes, but i'm curious if there's something we can do to make it work on BB OS'es below 4.3.

Moodio uses sdp (session description protocol) files, which contain links to the actual rtsp:// url of the stream. This apparently causes errors about "application/sdp unknown", "wrong media type", etc.

There is a possibility that 4.2 understands rtsp-streaming but does not understand sdp. The other sites i mentioned (zoovision, tunin, youtube) use direct rtsp links, without sdp. If someone with 4.2 checks if they work, we'll know whether there's anything we can do to make Moodio work on 4.2.

Oele!!! Welcome! So glad you came to the rescue. I am one of the Stackers that has 4.3 and I am doing everything right, tried changing settings every-which-way...it loads media player, then...nothing! No error no stream, no sound, just an opened media player. Does it no matter what my settings are. One thing I did notice today is that when I pull up http://m.moodio.fm or www.m.moodio.fm
it always shows http://m.moodio.fm/index.xhtml as the address. Here's the screen shot:

The /index.xhtml is normal. This is a difficult problem to solve. You're sure your firewall is switched off? I see in your profile that you're on Verizon. I have seen a lot of complaints from Verizon users at the crackberry forums that have the exact same problem. But then again, for some people on Verizion it works.
