    jivetalk(open to the public)

We have 2 announcements to make:

    1. JiveTalk Beta Build 0.9.0 is now available (see below for the reason
    for version jump)

Key Features and Bug Fixes in this build:

    - BIS-B transport support. This new build will use BIS-B by default
(instead of carrier TCP). This mean going forward, for those of you on
BIS, you don't have to use your carrier TCP gateway in order to use
JiveTalk. This should help those of you on carriers who charge extra
for direct TCP usage, also useful for international roaming when you're
on a BlackBerry data plan. You can manually select the transport to use
(BES/BIS/TCP, depending on your service books) by going to Preferences
and changing the new Transport option at the bottom.
    - Contact sort by status option. By default this is disabled, you can
turn this on with a preference
    - Popup dialog clean up for global message alerts, including the
multiple dialogs problem with buddy pounce and new message alerts.
    - Bug fix for text layout problem for the "Old School" chat style.
    - Added preference to turn off the "Alt-Alt" quick switch in chat window.

    2. JiveTalk Beta is now open to the public

As some of you may have surmised from us sending out the user survey,
we're definitely in the latter stages of the beta process. At this
point we're happy to announce that JiveTalk Beta is available for public
downloads. Our plans are to run a short open beta before releasing the
    1.0 build. What this means:

    - We are still in beta, though it's now open. And the service will
    remain free while in beta.
    - We are still taking feedback and suggestions. We'll continue to
improve the product going forward, taking in your feedback.
    - The installation information have now been moved to out website at To install the application OTA, you can just
    point your BlackBerry browser to

Again, we want to thank all of you for your invaluable feedback during
    the whole beta process.
