BTW question I need MSN, AOL and Yahoo messengers for 8100 for ATT that use DATA not SMS something like IM+ but free....

all of this PERFECT software for me and it's saying that my carrier (ATT) is not supporting it ...when I am using IM+ (trial and it's about to expire) is working perfect WHAT I SGOING ON ... any alternative ?

It means, that although it works, AT&T customer support will not help trouble shoot if you have a problem, and might just blame any problem on these packages if you call them about another problem. Just AT&Ts disclaimer about S/W that they have no information about. Perfectly normal and proper.

i dl the fotochatter and it keeps sayin "please wait..." and i exited and tried again and same thing! and also the drinkipedia it said the provision went thru but i never got an sms. i tried TWICE and both times it said it went thru..

also, what exactly is fotochatter?

I was asked to add it to the list. I tried it - kind of a dating network thing with pics. Didn't like it at all.

Also, I'm not sure if RIM ever released the service books for the apps.

Erica, IM+ is not a RIM App, it's a 3rd party app so RIM would not have a service book to release.

First, only the RIM Instant Messenger clients require a service books. They are NOT part of the installation. Instead, it has to be provided by your carrier. Presumably it is included as part of the provider's BIS setup or pulled from RIM through the provider's BIS network.

AT&T (formerly Cingular) has either removed the service books from their BIS setup or has blocked them from their BIS network. That is why, if you're an AT&T customer, even if you get it installed it will not work.

There are links in the notes of the apps list on how to get around this situation. It involves restoring a selective backup of a device with the client(s) installed. However, the restoration process removes all existing service books which can be problematic for BES users.

Third party IM clients either don't require a service book or include them as part of the installation or maybe even as part of the registration process, and is not controlled by the provider.

ALSO, a word of warning to AT&T customers. AT&T is now providing a "free" Instant Messenger client called OZ Instant Messaging. I have confirmed that this client uses SMS, NOT the data connection included with your BlackBerry Data Plan! SMS is NOT included in ANY AT&T Data Plan. If you use it without a text messaging plan, it will cost you $0.15 per 160 character message - incoming and outgoing. The character count is NOT cumulative - each IM is a separate message. If you intend to use this client, be advised to get a text messaging plan!

I didn't see your post before I updated the list.

I had looked at Spot, and although I thought it had some neat features thought Google and BlackBerry Mpas were better, but since you asked I'll add it to the next update.

I didn't like BerryQuery at all. If you like that, try Beyond411 and Google Services. Besides, the OTA link doesn't work!

NextAction has no trial download that I can see, so it won't go on the list. Let me know if I missed it or they change their policy.
