Well, your profile says you're running 4.5 Beta! If you can't find it wherever you got that, you're going to have to downgrade (not a fun job!).

First, if your provider is in the list, check what they have. If you see "(Chinese, Japanese, and Korean)" after the OS listing, you're in luck! For example, AT&T has "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.312 (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean)" for the 8310 (no, you can't use that). Simply download it and when you bring up the Application Loader, you'll see the language options available. Note that sometimes the listing just says "EastAsia". You'd have to try it to find out if that includes Japanese.

If your provider doesn't have alternate language support, you'll have to go through this list to find a provider that has support for Japanese.

Providers that support the 8320 (The latest OS is v4.2.2.184.):
    AIS Thailand - v4.2.2.175
    Antel - v4.2.2.181
    Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited - v4.2.2.161
    Cable & Wireless Ltd - v4.2.2.181
    Celcom Malaysia - v4.2.2.184
China Mobile Peoples Telephone - v4.2.2.175
    Dialog Sri Lanka - v4.2.2.181
    Entel PCS - v4.2.2.176
    Globe Telecom, Inc. - v4.2.2.175
Hong Kong CSL Limited - v4.2.2.175
    Hutchison - v4.2.2.181
    Indosat - v4.2.2.184
    M1 - v4.2.2.184
Millicom Central America, Paraguay and Bolivia - v4.2.2.181
    Orange Belgium Mobistar - v4.2.2.171
    Orange France - v4.2.2.184
Orange Poland Centertel PTK - v4.2.2.184
    Orange Romania - v4.2.2.171
    Orange Slovakia - v4.2.2.171
    Orange Spain Amena - v4.2.2.171
    Orange UK - v4.2.2.171
    PCCW Mobile - v4.2.2.161
    Porta - v4.2.2.176
Singapore Telecom Mobile Pte Ltd - v4.2.2.184
    SMART Communications Inc. - v4.2.2.175
    SmarTone-Vodafone - v4.2.2.184
    StarHub Ltd. - v4.2.2.184
    Telefonica - v4.2.2.161
    Telefonica Venezuela - v4.2.2.161
    Telkomsel Indonesia - v4.2.2.184
    T-Mobile - v4.2.2.180
    True Move - v4.2.2.175
Vodafone Australia and Fiji - v4.2.2.184
    XL Indonesia - v4.2.2.181
Once you find what you need, download and install it, then rename or delete the file:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Vendor.xml
then fire up the Application Loader and you should see the language options. Note: If your device has the same OS version but is just Multilanguage, you'll only need to load the Language modules.

I have seen postings here on how to create an .alx for just the language. If that's the case, you might be able to use the 8310 from AT&T to grab just the language assuming you're running the same major version of the OS on the same series model (i.e. the Japanese Language for the 8310 v4.2 should work on all 83xx devices running 4.2.x.x), but you'd have to search the forums to find out how to do that.

    Good luck!
